Milestone 2025 R1 Update - Remote Site Integration and Improved LPR

Milestone XProtect video management software has seen significant new capabilities in its latest 2025 R1 update, now offering seamless and easy integration of remote sites into your main Milestone XProtect camera system with Arcules. This new capability is the stand-out feature in Milestone's latest software release, and it is a real game changer. Additionally, there have been improvements to vehicle analytics within the LPR add-on, and improved usability on mobile devices.

Let's begin by outlining the key points.

Arcules plugin support for XProtect Professional+, Expert and Corporate

With the 2025 R1 release, the Arcules plugin no longer uses Milestone XProtect Interconnect to connect cloud cameras. The recording server’s behaviour is changing, so the Arcules plugin will now function as a normal device with ZeroLicenseType. This change removes its dependency on Interconnect Licenses, making it compatible with additional XProtect versions. It is now supported on the Professional+, Expert and Corporate variants of XProtect. This update brings significant benefits for Professional+ and Expert users, enabling them to incorporate hybrid solutions to enhance their operations.

XProtect LPR Vehicle Analytics

XProtect LPR Vehicle Analytics introduces enhanced new features aimed to streamline the vehicle identification process, enabling security personnel and law enforcement to quickly locate and identify vehicles of interest. The add-on's advanced analytics go beyond simple license plate recognition with added features such as:

• Vehicle Class
• Vehicle Colour
• Vehicle Model/Make
• Vehicle Angle

The system's enhanced capabilities enable quick filtering of video by vehicle characteristics, helping law enforcement and security personnel efficiently search footage and live streams for faster response times. The data also offers valuable insights for traffic management and urban planning.

Smart Client - Extensions to media player export – combined file format

In XProtect 2024 R1, a new combined media player export format was launched which creates a combined file containing all exported video sequences for quick and convenient export. Initially designed for casino clients, some functionalities were left out but have now been added with 2025 R1, so as to reach a wider range of users.

• Camera names
• Export in an adaptive view in media player format

This format creates a single file with all exported video sequences in order. It helps the Head of Surveillance and VMS operators report to management with added time stamps, camera names, and an adaptive view, enhancing investigations and reducing errors.

Support for SCIM for VMS User Management

The SCIM specification simplifies user identity management in cloud-based applications and services. Starting with 2025 R1, XProtect supports SCIM for synchronisation between the VMS and the external identity provider, allowing automated deletion of users when they are no longer associated with the company. This removes the need for manual interventions and enhances security in the long run. Please note that only Okta is currently supported, with scope for integration of further identity providers in future.

Mobile Client - New Navigation in Android

Navigation on the mobile client has now been switched from top to bottom, making it closer to the users’ thumb for improved accessibility. Additionally, a user-side panel has been added to find user information. This update facilitates easier access to alerts and allows for quick checks and responses while on the move.

Mobile Clients - Show Notification Badge on the Alarms Tab

The notification badge is now added when there’s a new alarm on the alarm icon. This is visible in the alarm tab on mobile devices on both iOS and Android. This reduces the likelihood of overlooking alarms, which ensures important alerts are acted upon to mitigate potential security risks. It enables operators to remain aware of alarms continuously even while on the go, enhancing efficiency and improving response times.

Operator Clients - Greek Language Support

Greek Language Support has now been added to operator clients, available for the Smart Client, Mobile Client and Web Client. The supporting components with Greek added are IDP change password page and Share service UI.

Access unit name in email notification

Email notifications have been updated to now include the name of the door or access control unit involved in an event. This added detail helps users quickly identify where an incident is occurring, reducing the need to check the system and allowing for faster response, especially in larger or multi-door environments.

Customers with valid Care Plus on the Milestone SLC can upgrade now. Customers without a valid CarePlus should contact us now for assistance in getting Milestone 2025 R1 installed to get the benefits of these new features.
