Overview of Milestone XProtect Interconnect - Device Licence

This device licence is required to interconnect one camera, speaker or other IP device to an existing Milestone XProtect Corporate base licence. It is not a standalone product. A Milestone XProtect Corporate installation is required as the central site to interconnect any devices on remote sites using other versions of XProtect.

Video Management

Centrally view or record devices from remote sites into an existing Milestone XProtect Corporate VMS installation with this XProtect Interconnect licence, enabling multi-site deployment (where any version of XProtect is running on the remote sites), cross-domain support, flexible video retrieval and proactive alarm monitoring across geographically dispersed sites.

Milestone Interconnect is optimised to connect many smaller, distributed sites that are connected through low-bandwidth or intermittent connections. This makes it ideal for temporary remote sites, perhaps situated on vehicles that may experience occasional network connection difficulties. It does not require a permanent high-speed connection just as long as it has access to the VMS network from time to time, for instance via wireless hotspots at bus stops, train stations, ferry terminals etc.

Access live and recorded video, metadata and audio from the remote site through the centralised XProtect VMS installation, as well as bringing remote devices into XProtect Smart Wall, alongside bookmarks and alarms. It provides access to the advanced monitoring functions of XProtect Corporate regardless of which version of XProtect VMS is installed on the remote sites, for a comprehensive and powerful security solution.

Scalable Video Quality Recording (SVQR)

SVQR makes it possible to record high-quality video in the remote interconnected site, while sending a second low-quality reference video stream to the central XProtect Corporate site where it can be viewed live and recorded. This significantly reduces the network and storage requirements and costs. If the high-quality recordings are required on the central site, they can be retrieved either on a schedule or on demand via the XProtect Smart Client.

One XProtect Interconnect device licence is required per interconnected device.

• Transportation - cameras installed on vehicles may be subject to intermittent network connection. Integrating XProtect Interconnect overcomes this as it does not require a permanent high-speed network connection
• City surveillance - interconnect different geographic areas and zones into a common central site
• Large sites such as ports and airports can deploy remote systems quickly with Interconnect and retreive them back to a central monitoring location
