This compact network camera from Axis is specifically designed for side view monitoring on the outside of vehicles such as buses and trains. It can also be used for identifying maintenance needs on rolling stock. The unit captures HD 1080p resolution video at up to 25 frames per second (fps) and can be supplied with either a male RJ45 or rugged M12 connector. Other handy features include Forensic Wide Dynamic Range (WDR) and Lightfinder technologies for improved imaging in challenging light, as well as up to 20m OptimisedIR illumination.
Designed specifically for exterior onboard monitoring, this robust IP camera complies with transportation industry standards – allowing it to withstand difficult conditions such as vibrations, shock and inconsistent temperatures. The unit features a fixed lens that provides a horizontal viewing angle of 56° and can provide reliable round-the-clock monitoring thanks to integrated IR LEDs with OptimisedIR technology and a range of reach of up to 20m.
Forensic WDR technology is included to retain image details in high-contrast scenes, while Lightfinder technology produces full-colour images even in near darkness. Electronic Image Stabilisation (EIS) helps to deliver stable video when the camera is subject to vibrations. Users can also view areas of interest within the original image in greater detail using digital pan/tilt/zoom (PTZ) controls.
Various camera-based video motion detection methods can be configured to enhance dynamic scene awareness and deliver reliable security monitoring – notifying users of potential incidents in real-time via notification methods such as email.
Edge storage is included, and recordings can be written to the onboard microSD card (not included) - providing a helpful backup of data if the network fails. Users can remotely access the unit via the free Axis Companion application or, for more sophisticated video management, the camera can be easily integrated into other high-performance VMS such as Axis Camera Station and Milestone XProtect. Additionally, a cloud-based solution can be implemented through the Morphean Cloud CCTV platform or CamStreamer Cloud VMS including 30 days storage.
The unit can be supplied with either an RJ45 or M12 connector. This allows the camera to stay connected even when faced with bumps and vibrations and also enables easy installation in any kind of vehicle from trains and buses to emergency vehicles. The camera is also housed in a robust IP67, IK10+ and IP6K9K-rated casing – enabling reliable exterior monitoring of vehicles at doors and close to the vehicle to help prevent accidents. When installed on the roof, it can be used to monitor pantograph collector strips. In addition, PoE support helps to simplify installation by providing power and network connectivity over a single cable.
