This camera with its compact, impact-resistant dome is ideal for discreet monitoring in any indoor application. Its ability to capture high-quality 4K video around the clock makes it suitable for the most demanding security requirements. Metadata from on-board deep learning analytics accurately detects individuals and enables quick forensic search in live or recorded video. Featuring Axis’ efficient Zipstream compression technology, bandwidth demands and storage usage are kept to a minimum, whilst the important forensic detail is preserved. Axis Edge Vault ensures maximum cybersecurity of the camera, whilst firmware support and updates will be available from Axis until 31st December 2031. Typical applications for the Axis M4218-LV dome camera include CCTV monitoring of larger areas in for example warehouses, distribution centres, or on factory floors, but also large public indoor areas such as churches, aulas and conference space. 

Imaging and Optics

Equipped with a 4K resolution sensor as well as advanced WDR, the Axis M4218-LV produces rich, detailed footage at up to 15 frames per second. The integrated infrared LED with OptimisedIR technology ensures optimum scene illumination when there is total darkness. The unit’s 3.5mm – 6.6mm varifocal lens enables horizontal viewing angles of up to 93° wide and down to 47° narrow, whilst vertical views are 50° to 26° enabling a good range of zoom to clearly capture the target object or space. Moreover, Axis Privacy Shield employs AI-based dynamic masking allowing the concealment of moving objects, safeguarding the privacy of individuals when so required. 

Video Analytics

On-camera video analytics include Axis Object Analytics, Face Detector, Live Privacy Shield and Active Tampering Alarm. Easy to configure, these applications will give you flexible control over what the camera will be used for, and what kind of events you want to detect, and when. Whether you want to be alerted to security breaches, instances of loitering or over-occupancy, you can configure up to ten different detection scenarios. Using intelligent spatial behaviour analysis, Axis Object Analytics can filter out unwanted or irrelevant events, so you can focus on exactly what you need.

Additional Axis applications and third-party applications are supported to enhance the camera’s functionality for more specific requirements.

Recording and Video Management

Installation and Mounting Options

Fitted with an active tampering alarm and featuring an IK08-rated casing, this robust camera can be safely deployed in areas prone to vandalism. Measuring just 120mm in diameter and able to be repainted, this compact unit is designed to blend into almost any indoor environment. PoE provides this versatile camera with efficient power and network delivery, whilst an HDMI port allows it to be connected to an external monitor and Portcast technology supports two-way audio.

Out of the box, this camera can mounted to a wall or ceiling but further installation options are available by using one of the optional mounts:
