The premium Q-line of cameras from Axis deliver exceptional video image quality, in addition to advanced analytics based on their deep learning capability, and the Q1656-B follows suit. This barebone model of the powerful Axis Q1656 comes without a lens and mounting options, allowing the user full flexibility to create a customised unique camera tailored to meet specific requirements. This network camera provides smooth HD resolution images at a high-framerate, making it ideal to capture clear footage in areas with high levels of traffic. Furthermore, the camera features a built-in microphone and I/O connections to support two-way audio capabilities, Power-over-Ethernet, and hardened cybersecurity features with Axis Edge Vault. Suitable for use indoor as is, the unit can also be retrofitted with the IP66-rated Axis T92E05 Protective Housing, a resilient protective shell providing protection from inclement weather conditions.

Imaging & Optics

Featuring a 4MP image sensor for capturing high-definition video up to 2688x1512 resolution, images are delivered up to 50 fps for smooth and clear footage. Areas with contrasting or low-lighting are optimised using WDR and Lightfinder 2.0 to deliver full-colour video even with the presence of shadows or dimly lit conditions to ensure important details aren't missed. Advantages of this barebone model means users can choose and fit their own lenses for a desired field of view and features bespoke to meet demands. Being part of the advanced Axis Q-range means that this camera is packed with the most advanced features and delivers a high standard of monitoring, with compatibility with the intelligent CS-mount lens pioneered by Axis. An i-CS lens enables the camera to gather information about the position of its zoom, focus and iris opening to identify the type of lens mounted on it as well as simplify installation using integrated motors. 

Video analytics

Thanks to the powerful ARTPEC-8 system-on-chip, the camera can analyse data on board and produce more reliable data by reducing information lost through compression or transmission. The accuracy of real-time detection and classification of objects via the preinstalled Axis Object Analytics is improved through the built-in deep learning processing unit for enhanced scene awareness. Axis Live Privacy Shield is also included for safeguarding the identity of individuals captured on camera. Furthermore, this camera benefits from access to Axis’ Camera Application platform, from which users can download a variety of Axis and approved third-party analytics applications to integrate into the unit.

Recording and Video Management

Built-in Axis Zipstream technology assists in ensuring data storage is optimised when recording video. The intelligent compression method differentiates between important and unnecessary recorded data and can lower bandwidth and storage requirements by up to 50%.

• On-board storage provides a backup if the network fails, recording files onto a MicroSD card (card not included).
• Axis Camera Station video management software (VMS) creates a unified management system providing the user with greater functionality from their Axis devices.
• Axis Camera Station network video recorders (NVR) are compatible with all Axis IP devices and come preinstalled with Axis Camera Station VMS.
• Milestone XProtect video management software (VMS), industry-leading open platform innovative video management for optimum adaptability and expandability.

Installation and mounting options

To simplify installation, both power and network connectivity is supplied via one cable thanks to PoE support.
