Designed for complete situational awareness, the Axis M5000-G provides 360° overviews with its three 5MP overview sensors and pan/tilt capabilities with a dedicated PTZ camera. In addition to this, the unit features Z-Wave technology, allowing the camera to communicate with up to six smart devices such as lights, heating systems and thermometers for hands-free activation or monitoring – ideal for checking temperatures in supermarket freezers or saving energy with motion-activated lighting.

Camera

This 4-in-1 unit offers combined views of 360° from its three overview sensors and varifocal views between 6.7° and 61.8° from the PTZ camera. Users can switch from overview to PTZ mode with a single click, allowing closer inspection of areas of interest with 10x optical zoom, 360° pan and 180° tilt. Furthermore, true day/night capture is possible with the PTZ camera’s automatic IR-cut filter – providing detailed monochrome video in near dark conditions. The product also features Edge storage (card not included) to safeguard data in the event of a network failure.

Imaging

In addition to standard image settings such as saturation, contrast, brightness, sharpness and white balance, this unit features Forensic WDR technology to improve capture in high-contrast conditions. By lowering noise levels and increasing the image signal, the technology ensures details are clearly visible in both bright and dark areas. Furthermore, this powerful WDR technology is optimised for motion, ensuring that few artefacts are apparent in busy scenes.

Video analytics

Users can be alerted via email notification when motion is detected by the camera thanks to its configurable video motion detection alarms. Motion detection can be used to prompt certain tasks such as moving the PTZ camera directly to a pre-set location or starting a guard tour to ensure all activity is captured. Users are able to customise their analytics using downloadable applications available on the Axis Camera Application platform, providing a flexible and tailored surveillance system.

Video management

Available for free, Axis Companion Application provides basic video management and remote access to up to 16 camera channels via PC or mobile application – ideal for smaller CCTV installations. If a more advanced solution is required, video management software such as Axis Camera Station and Milestone XProtect is available for larger systems.

Installation

Suitable for deployment in indoor areas prone to dust and condensation, this camera is housed in IP51-rated casing protecting it from dust particles and moisture. Installation is simplified and costs are kept low as Power-over-Ethernet (PoE) supplies the unit with both power and network connectivity over a single cable for quick and cost-effective integration. Storage requirements are also reduced thanks to Zipstream technology’s ability to optimise bandwidth whilst maintaining the quality of important forensic footage.
