Engineered to deliver high-resolution hemispheric overviews onboard vehicles, the Axis M4318-PLR is able to withstand shocks and vibrations and is encased in IK10 and IP66-rated vandal- and weather-resistant housing. Built on Axis’ latest ARTPEC-8 chipset, the camera features an array of AI-driven analytics and enhanced cybersecurity. Furthermore, this feature-packed dome is able to function in a range of light conditions with its advanced imaging technologies, including Lightfinder, Forensic WDR and up to 15m OptimisedIR illumination.

Imaging and Optics

This durable hemispheric dome delivers crisp 12MP resolution at up to 30 fps, providing high levels of detail across the entire image. The camera’s fisheye lens enables 360° hemispheric and 180° panoramic overviews with no blind spots, allowing you to cover a large area with a single camera. Built with a stereographic lens, it ensures higher resolution around the outer portion of the view, whilst Sharpdome technology improves the sharpness at the edges of the image, allowing you to see objects in the camera’s peripheral view in more detail. A range of dewarped viewing modes are available such as panorama, quad, corner, and corridor views. Digital PTZ capabilities enable you to easily navigate around the dewarped views via your VMS. Lightfinder technology allows the camera to capture full-colour footage down to 0.19lux, and when light levels drop below this the OptimisedIR LEDs enable clear monochrome footage in complete darkness, with no glare or reflections. Moreover, in high-contrast scenes, Forensic WDR optimises video by lowering noise levels and increasing the image signal to ensure details are visible in both dark and bright areas.

Video Analytics

Thanks to its advanced ARTPEC-8 chipset and built-in DLPU this dome camera can process powerful AI-driven analytics directly on the camera, with up to ten simultaneous scenarios available. Intuitive metadata is also gathered, enabling more efficient investigation into incidents and forensic search of both recorded and live footage.

To create a more bespoke monitoring solution, Axis applications and third-party applications are available to expand the camera’s functionality.

Recording and Video Management

Installation and Mounting Options

Delivered factory-focused and featuring digital-roll functionality, it is easy to remotely adjust the rotation of the camera at installation and ensure the view is as required. This camera is simple to install and efficient to run as it offers support for PoE and requires a low power budget. The durable IK10-rated casing is designed to absorb impacts and vibrations that may affect the quality of footage. The housing is also IP66-rated to prevent dust and water from entering the camera and it can operate in temperatures between -40°C and 50°C. Equipped with a repaintable exterior, this hemispheric dome can be adapted to fit in with almost any environment for a discreet surveillance solution. Typical applications include bus and coach CCTV, train security and ships.
