Overview of the Bosch DINION IP Bullet 4000 HD

This external bullet network camera by Bosch delivers high-quality surveillance at up to 25 frames per second (fps). True day/night recording is enhanced with built-in infrared (IR) LEDs and delivers clear night-time images up to a distance of 30 metres. This unit also features an IK08 aluminium housing to provide robust protection in exposed areas and can be easily installed using Power-over-Ethernet (PoE). Additional features include two-way audio support and integrated MicroSD card storage.

The unit’s varifocal lens provides wide horizontal viewing angles up to 100° and an automatic lens wizard simplifies installation, enabling accurate adjustment of zoom and focus for optimum coverage – from day to night. Areas of interest can be user-defined and separate streams for viewing and recording can be produced, allowing these regions to be viewed separately whilst retaining overall awareness. Specific areas of the original image can also be examined in greater detail using electronic pan/tilt/zoom (E-PTZ) controls to help identify persons or objects.

Two-way audio is supported with the connection of a microphone and speaker (not included) via the external I/O ports, enabling audio recording and communication with those close to the camera. Audio triggered alerts can also be used alongside motion detection and tampering alarms to inform users of possible incidents in the scene. In addition, external alarm sources can be connected via built in I/O ports to enhance alarm signalling.

Imaging technologies such as intelligent defog help improve visibility in images captured in smoke, fog and haze. This function can be run continuously or configured to activate when the camera’s visibility is impaired. In addition, Intelligent Dynamic Noise Reduction (IDNR) helps produce clearer low-light images by analysing the scene and reducing noise levels. These low-noise images, together with the unit’s efficient H.264 compression technology provide reduced bandwidth streams that still retain high image quality.

Area based encoding allows up to eight user-definable compression parameters to be set, allowing less interesting regions to be highly compressed, leaving more bandwidth for areas deemed more important. Support for MicroSD card recording (card not included), mobile viewing via the free Bosch Video Security app and the included surface mount box accessory make this unit an ideal choice for those requiring a simple to install, standalone CCTV system.
