Encased in an ATEX-rated stainless steel housing, and Class/Division 1- and Zone 1-certified, the Axis XFQ1656 is equipped for use in combustible environments such as oil refineries, bonded warehouses, petrochemical plants, factories, and grain terminals. Providing clear imaging in dark locations, the camera features high levels of light sensitivity with a 1/1.8” sensor and adjustable iris. The camera is built on Axis’ ARTPEC-8 chipset and is able to take advantage of deep-learning analytics to improve operations, reduce downtime, and help maintain health and safety. Cybersecurity features are preinstalled to safeguard your system, including Axis Edge Vault, a hardware-based platform that protects the integrity of data, and signed firmware to validate any software that is installed onto the camera. Moreover, imaging technologies such as Lightfinder 2.0, Forensic WDR and electronic image stabilisation ensure that the camera can produce detailed video in difficult light conditions.

Imaging and Optics

This durable unit captures smooth 4MP resolution video at up to 60fps, ideal for monitoring fast-moving objects with minimal motion artefacts. Fitted with an automatic IR-cut filter, the unit is able to function around the clock, and in light levels down to 0.02 lux it produces clear, full-colour imaging with Lightfinder 2.0. Forensic WDR lowers noise levels and increases the image signal to optimise high-contrast video and ensure details are visible in both dark and bright areas. The camera’s 3.9 – 10 mm varifocal lens enables you to set the ideal horizontal viewing angle between 81° and 47°. Built-in electronic image stabilisation ensures that the camera captures clear and smooth footage, free of motion blur, even when it is subject to excessive movement.

Video Analytics

In addition to basic video motion detection alerts and recording triggers, as this camera is built on the powerful ARTPEC-8 chipset, it offers a range of AI-based analytics including the highly accurate Axis Object Analytics that enables you to detect unauthorised personnel in restricted areas, and smoke alerts to notify you of potential incidents before they can develop.

You can also enhance your camera’s analytic capabilities with an array of Axis applications and third-party applications.

Recording and Video Management

Installation and Mounting Options

Engineered to prevent explosions and endure demanding environments, the Axis XFQ1656 camera is set within an ATEX-rated stainless steel housing that is also IP66/67/68-rated for protection against water and dust, and it is designed to function effectively in extreme temperatures of -40 °C to 60 °C. An integrated wiper is also included to keep the lens clear from any debris or moisture that may obscure the footage and which can be either be automated or used manually. For efficient installation and ease of use throughout its lifetime, the camera receives power and network connection via a single cable, thanks to PoE, and features a range of installation aids such as remote zoom and focus, remote back focus, levelling assistant and pixel counter to help you set up your desired view quickly on site and remotely afterwards. It also comes with Axis’ Zipstream video compression technology which manages storage capacity by reducing bandwidth without compromising important forensic footage.

In order to mount the unit to a wall or a pole, the following bracketry is required:
