Overview of the Axis Q2901-E PT

This outdoor-ready, temperature alarm camera from the Axis Q29 series offers thermal imaging in 336 x 256 resolution that can be scaled up to 720 x 576. Mounted on a pan-tilt (PT) motor, the camera has the ability to cover a wide area, resulting in a cost-effective alternative to the installation of multiple fixed mount cameras. The unit offers two kinds of temperature detection alarms and support for up to six configurable temperature alarm zones. Delivering reliable security monitoring within scenes that require temperature regulation, this advanced camera also supports edge storage and has a choice of two lens sizes.

Offering two alarms triggered by a deviation in temperature, this compact network camera has the ability to detect the temperature of an object between -40°c and 550°c. Visual aids such as spot temperature readings enable the user to read specific temperatures within particular areas of the field of view. Isothermal palette functionality configures highlighted temperature spans within the image enabling the user to define which temperature corresponds to which colour. These combined functions help to predict hazards by indicating a problem area before an issue arises and it becomes visible to the human eye.

Designed for external use, the camera is housed in an IP66 and NEMA 4X rated metal casing to provide durable protection against demanding weather conditions. The unit is able to operate in temperatures as low as -40°C and the integrated heater for the window decreases ice build up in extreme low temperatures.

Thermal imaging cameras are less sensitive to shadows and challenging light conditions, resulting in greater accuracy and fewer false alarms than non-thermal network cameras. The intelligent video motion and temperature detection in this model enhance scene awareness and alert users of possible hazards via notifications such as email. The user can also be made aware of possible vandalism attempts to the unit with built-in shock detection technology that send an alert if the camera is subject to impact.

Both H.264 and MJPEG compression standards are supported providing flexibility depending on requirements. The built-in MicroSD card slot (card not included) supports edge storage and acts as a data back-up in case of network connection loss. Power through PoE enables quick and easy installation with network and power being fed to the camera though a single cable.

This model comes with a choice of lens. The default 9mm option (0645-001) provides a 35° view and gives the user a focus distance of 2.1m whereas the 19mm (0647-001) lens choice gives a 17° view with a 9.5m focus distance.

Please note: there is no power supply included with this unit. It is power over ethernet capable.
