Overview of Axis P7701
The Axis P7701 video decoder is designed to replace PCs used to convert video footage from Axis IP cameras for display on monitors in locations such as department store entrances and shopping malls. Alternatively, the P7701 can be used to lower recording server processing in large security systems by offloading display functionality.
The server's compact casing takes up a lot less space than a PC and can be mounted close to the output screen while it's DVI-I and RCA outputs are compatible with both analogue and digital monitors. Event detection features in each camera, such as motion or tamper detection, trigger the decoder to display feeds when an event is detected, making surveillance easier for monitoring staff.
An unlimited number of cameras can be added into the decoder and cycled one at a time, ideal for large surveillance systems. One-way audio support can also output audio from each camera through the monitor, letting users hear audio from the location as well as seeing video.
Key Benefits
- Removes the need for a PC to convert IP camera output for video displays
- Lower processing requirements for security system recording servers
- Compatible with both analogue and digital monitors
- Compact form factor takes up a lot less space than a PC-based system
- Output the audio footage from each camera alongside video
Key Features
- Output video footage from Axis IP video cameras to an analogue or digital screen
- Pull video from IP cameras with high definition (720p) resolution
- H.264, MPEG-4 and MJPEG compression formats supported, providing adjustment for video quality and network bandwidth
- Compact casing is smaller than a PC and uses less energy to operate
- One-way audio output can provide audio from each camera alongside video footage (compatible camera and audio equipment required)
- Power over Ethernet support simplifies installation as data and power are combined into a single cable
- Integrate with an unlimited number of concurrent IP cameras and cycle through each one at a time
- Automatically bring up video feeds on event such as motion or tamper detection
- Add a push button using external signal inputs to provide manual switching of camera feeds without access to the web interface
- RS-422/RS-485 port sends commands to compatible surveillance equipment
- HTTPS support can securely pull video streams from compatible cameras on unsecured networks such as the Internet
- IPv6 future-proofs equipment investment, ready for the move to IPv6 addressing
- Axiscam.net Dynamic DNS provides easy remote access on Internet connections with a dynamic IP address
Typical Applications
The Axis P7701 is designed to replace PCs used as a network video convertor for analogue or digital displays in places such as department stores or shopping malls. Alternatively, the P7701 can be used in large security systems to reduce the processing load on recording servers by handling video output.
