Overview of the Axis M5055

When mounted onto a ceiling, this palm-sized PTZ network camera provides unobtrusive surveillance of indoor locations – in HD resolution. Areas of interest can be examined in detail using the camera’s pan/tilt functionality and 5x optical zoom. Additional features include edge storage, support for Power-over-Ethernet (PoE) and remote access via the Axis Companion application.

The ultra-compact model captures high-quality, HD 1080p video at full frame rate and pan/tilt functionality allows users to easily navigate across wide scenes. Handy 5x optical zooming enables real-time investigation into regions of interest, and a 10x digital zoom is handy for further examination of the original image.

Users can listen to activity occurring close to the camera via the built-in microphone in both live view and playback. Audio triggered alerts and video motion detection alarms are configurable to help inform users of activity via email notification. These alarms can also be set to trigger certain tasks, such as moving to a preset position or start edge recording – ensuring no vital footage is missed. In addition, built-in analytics such a scream detection and object removal are supported to increase scene awareness for reliable security monitoring.

Installation of the Axis Companion application provides simple video management for up to 16 IP cameras. Available as a PC client or mobile application, this free software allows users to record and playback video footage from the camera’s SD card (not included) for an affordable and easy-to-use CCTV monitoring solution.

Helpful support for PoE allows both power and network connectivity to be supplied to the door station over a single cable - simplifying installation. In addition, Axis' Zipstream technology analyses and optimises the video stream in real-time, recording important details in high quality, whilst filtering out other areas to help reduce bandwidth and storage use.
