Overview of the Axis M3046-V

This affordably priced mini-dome is equipped with a 2.4mm fixed lens, and delivers up to 4 megapixel resolution at full frame rate. Part of the Axis M30 series, this ultra-compact IP camera is a suitable choice for unobtrusive surveillance across wide indoor areas. Additional features include microSD card storage and Axis Zipstream technology.

Wide dynamic range (WDR) technology renders details evenly in strongly backlit scenes, ensuring objects and individuals can be identified clearly. Axis Corridor Format is a helpful feature that maximises area coverage and reduces bandwidth in narrow scenes by vertically orientating the video stream. Additionally, digital pan/tilt/zoom allows the user to examine the original image in more detail. These zoomed-in sections can be used in combination with the camera’s multi-view streaming feature, allowing specific areas of interest to be cropped and streamed separately for live viewing or recording.

The factory-focused camera is simple to set up and also features a helpful 3-axis lens adjustment which allows the user to easily set the desired view. The unit’s palm-sized housing features IK08 rated vandal resistance – ideal for non-invasive placement in areas that are prone to tampering.

Axis' advanced Zipstream technology analyses and optimises the video stream in real time, recording interesting detail in high quality, whilst filtering other areas out to reduce bandwidth and storage use.

Users can install Axis’ Companion Software, a simple video management solution for up to 16 camera channels, to provide remote access to live views and playback of video footage. This free software is available as a PC client and mobile applications for both iOS and Android devices.

A variety of video motion detection and tampering alarms can be configured to alert users of activity via a choice of notifications including email. With the use of the Axis Companion app, motion detection events can also trigger recording.
