Overview of the Veracity Highwire VHW-HWPS-B8 (base unit)

The Veracity VHW-HWPS-B8 base unit is a rack-mountable solution with an integrated gigabit switch for connecting and powering multiple IP cameras over legacy coaxial cabling. When combined with multiple Veracity VHW-HWPS-C client units, this single unit delivers Power-over-Ethernet (PoE) to a total of eight IP channels. Alternatively, four of the VHW-HWPS-B8 units can be rack-mounted to provide PoE to a maximum of 32 IP channels (up to 25W per channel) in 1U - with space for an optional 1U power supply.

This unit provides a cost-effective solution for delivering Power-over-Ethernet – without the need for new cabling. Additionally, it only requires one main switch port, or 4 network ports when rack-mounted. Straightforward to install with no configuration required, this unit is capable of delivering up to 200Mbit/s of bandwidth and power-over-coax at up to 300m (RG-59) or 500m (RG-11). A rear-mounted SFP slot is also included for an optional SFP fibre Ethernet module.

This eight-channel base unit is compatible with a variety of the Veracity HIGHWIRE Powerstar camera adaptors including the VHW-HWPS-C and Quad VHW-HWPS-C4.
