Overview of the Bosch FLEXIDOME IP indoor 5000i

Part of the Bosch FLEXIDOME 5000i range, this compact dome IP camera delivers 5MP resolution at full frame rate. It supports true day/night recording, as well as Bosch’s Essential Video Analytics for enhanced, 24-hour security monitoring of indoor areas. Additional features include support for remote monitoring via the Bosch Video Security mobile app, edge storage and Power-over-Ethernet (PoE). An IR model is also available and provides up to 30m of enhanced night vision.

The unit’s varifocal lens provides wide horizontal views (up to 92°) and allows the desired viewing angle to be easily set during installation. In addition, user defined regions of interest produce separate streams for viewing and recording. These streams, along with the main stream, allow users to separately view areas of interest whilst retaining an overall awareness.

Bosch's dynamic noise reduction technology helps to deliver a clearer image by analysing the scene and reducing levels of noise that are commonly seen in low-light video. The combination of clearer images and the camera’s efficient H.265 compression technology results in reduced storage and bandwidth streams that still retain a high image quality and smooth motion.

Using a comprehensive range of configurable alarms, Bosch’s edge-based Essential Video Analytics helps to provide accurate security surveillance. The i-LIDs approved technology offers a total of 14 rules, and users can set a maximum of 8 rules to be run simultaneously. Detailed metadata is also recorded at the point of capture - allowing users to retrieve specific footage from hours of stored video at a later date. By running this advanced technology at the edge, all this processing is done without putting any load on the network or central resources.

An integrated microphone allows users to listen in and record audio in the monitored area. Two-way audio can also be enabled when a speaker (not included) is connected via the external I/O port. Audio triggered alerts can be used alongside motion detection alarms to notify users of possible incidents. In addition, users have the ability to connect external devices via the integrated I/O ports for enhanced alarm signalling.

Bandwidth levels can be managed with the use of area-based encoding. Compression parameters for up to eight regions can be set - allowing less interesting regions to be highly compressed, leaving more bandwidth for areas deemed more important. Installation is simplified with support for PoE and on-board storage provides a backup if the network fails - recording files onto the MicroSD card (not included). Remote monitoring is also supported with the use of Bosch’s free Video Security app, which provides access to live video and playback of recordings - all from a mobile device.
