Overview of the Bosch DINION IP Bullet 5000 HD

This outdoor-ready bullet IP camera delivers high quality, HD 1080p resolution at full frame rate. Part of the feature packed DINION range, it supports true day/night recording that is enhanced by integrated infrared illumination (maximum range of 30m) for effective 24 hour monitoring. The camera is housed in an IK08-rated aluminium casing to provide protection in exposed areas and can be easily installed using Power-over-Ethernet (PoE). Additional features include built-in MicroSD card storage and two-way audio support.

The varifocal lens allows optimum scene coverage to be set during installation and an automatic lens wizard makes it easy to accurately zoom and focus the camera for both day and night operation. Areas of interest can be defined by the user and separate streams for viewing and recording can be produced, allowing these regions to be viewed separately whilst retaining overall awareness. In addition, electronic pan/tilt/zoom (E-PTZ) controls allow the user to examine specific areas of the original image in greater detail – helpful when trying to identify persons or objects.

The unit can provide two-way audio when a microphone and speaker are connected via the an external I/O port, enabling audio recording and two-way communication through the camera. Audio, tamper and motion detection alarms are configurable to help notify users of activity and external alarm sources can also be connected, via built-in I/O ports to help enhance alarm signalling.

Intelligent defog is supported and improves visibility in images captured in smoke, fog and haze. This handy function can be run continuously or configured to activate when the camera’s visibility is impaired. Clearer images are produced with the help of Bosch’s Intelligent Dynamic Noise Reduction technology (IDNR) which analyses the scene and reduces noise levels. These images, combined with the unit’s efficient H.264 compression technology, provide reduced bandwidth streams that still retain high image quality.

Support for area-based encoding helps manage bandwidth levels and allows compression parameters to be set for up to eight user-defined regions. Less interesting areas are highly compressed, leaving more bandwidth for regions deemed more important. Integrated MicroSD card storage, mobile viewing via the free Bosch Video Security app and the included surface mount box accessory make this camera ideal for organisations that require a simple to install, standalone CCTV system.
