Overview of the Bosch TINYON IP 2000 WI

This wireless network camera by Bosch delivers HD 720p resolution at up to 30 frames per second (fps), complete with electronic day/night capability for smooth video capture of indoor areas in low light. With an integrated PIR sensor for motion detection, two-way audio support and integrated white light LED to illuminate darkened rooms (4m maximum range), this IP camera offers basic CCTV surveillance at an affordable price.

The integrated wireless LAN feature enables the camera to be connected to WiFi access points and can be set up quickly using the unit’s WPS button. Wireless connectivity is popular with home users and for simple applications in small businesses because it removes the need of a network cable and allows the camera’s location to be easily changed.

The camera’s built-in speaker and microphone supports two-way communication with those close to the camera and the detection of audio can be used to trigger an alarm. The integrated PIR sensor detects motion and can trigger an alarm, or start recording or even switch on the camera’s white light LED. Users can be kept informed of any alarm events via messages through email, SMS or mobile device notifications (when using the Bosch Video Security app). JPEG images can be posted to four different accounts via FTP servers or cloud-based storage facilities such as Dropbox – this can be scheduled or alarm-based. Additionally, the user can manually export video clips or JPEG images directly to these accounts for instant retrieval of data.

This neat little IP camera includes Bosch imaging technology to help deliver clearer low-light images and reduce bandwidth. Bosch’s Intelligent Dynamic Noise Reduction technology analyses the scene and reduces noise levels accordingly. Bandwidth levels can be managed with area-based encoding which allows compression parameters for up to eight user-defined regions to be set. Regions in the scene that are of little interest can be highly compressed, leaving higher levels of bandwidth for areas deemed more important. These clearer images, in combination with the unit’s efficient H.264 compression technology results in reduced bandwidth streams that still retain a high image quality and smooth motion.

Users can access the camera easily from the included Bosch Video PC Client, a web browser or the free Bosch Video Security app. This free application offers a flexible mobile viewing solution, allowing users to view live feeds, control cameras and playback recordings at any time or place.
