Overview of the Bosch FLEXIDOME IP indoor 4000 HD

This dome network camera is part of the Bosch FLEXIDOME range and provides high-quality surveillance at an affordable price. It supports true day/night recording and can deliver smooth HD 720p resolution at full frame rate, making it ideal for indoor areas that require round-the-clock monitoring. An IR model is also available and provides up to 15m of enhanced night-vision.

The unit’s varifocal lens offers wide horizontal views of up to 105.5° for optimum scene coverage and user-defined regions of interest can also be set with separate streams for viewing and recording. These streams, along with the main stream, allow the operator to separately view areas of importance whilst retaining overall awareness. Specific areas of the original image can be examined in greater detail with remote electronic pan/tilt/zoom (E-PTZ) controls and can assist in the identification of persons or objects.

Users can listen to activity occurring close to the camera in live view via the built-in microphone and audio recordings can be listened to in playback. In addition, two-way communication is supported when a speaker (not included) is connected via the external I/O port. Both audio and motion detections can be used alongside connected external devices to trigger alarms, start recording and alert users of possible incidents via email or SMS notifications.

For clearer low-light images, the included Bosch Intelligent Dynamic Noise Reduction technology (IDNR) analyses the scene and reduces noise levels accordingly. These low-noise images, together with the unit’s efficient H.264 compression technology, result in reduced bandwidth streams that still retain a high image quality.

Recordings can be stored locally to the on-board MicroSD card (card not included) to provide an ideal standalone solution for small CCTV systems. With support for Power-over-Ethernet (PoE), both power and network connectivity is supplied to the camera over a single cable - helping to simplify installation. Multiple configurable streams in H.264 and MJPEG are supported and with the use of area-based encoding, compression parameters for up to eight user-defined regions can be set. This allows areas that are of less interest to be highly compressed, leaving higher levels of bandwidth for parts of the scene deemed more important.

The camera can be accessed from the included Bosch Video PC Client, a web browser or the free downloadable Bosch Video Security application. Great for smaller systems, this app offers quick access to live views, camera control and recording playback at any time or place – all from a mobile device.
