Overview of the Bosch FLEXIDOME IP outdoor 4000i

This affordable dome IP camera delivers high quality, HD 1080p resolution video at full frame rate – round-the-clock. Part of the outdoor-ready FLEXIDOME 4000i range, the unit’s IK10-rated housing provides robust protection in exposed locations. The unit also includes Bosch’s Essential Video Analytics for enhanced security monitoring, as well as support for H.265 and Power-over-Ethernet (PoE). An alternative infrared model is available which provides up to 30m of enhanced night vision.

The unit’s varifocal lens provides wide horizontal viewing angles (up to 101°) and allows optimum scene coverage to be set during installation. User-definable regions produce separate streams for viewing and recording which, together with the main stream, allow the user to retain overall scene awareness while closely monitoring areas of interest.

A range of advanced imaging technologies are available that help the camera deliver clear video in challenging lighting conditions. By intelligently distinguishing between noise and relevant information such as movement, Bosch’s Intelligent Dynamic Noise Reduction (IDNR) technology analyses the scene and reduces noise-levels at the source during image capture. These low-noise images result in reduced bandwidth streams that still retain high image quality.

Bosch’s Essential Video Analytics is an i-LIDS approved, edge-based technology that provides a selection of configurable alarms to help deliver reliable and accurate CCTV. A total of 14 rules are available and users can set a maximum of 8 rules to run simultaneously. At the point of capture, detailed metadata is also recorded - allowing users to easily retrieve specific footage from hours of stored video at a later date. In addition, running this technology at the edge is beneficial because it allows all processing to be done without putting any load on the network or central resources.

Multiple configurable streams in H.264, H.265 and MJPEG are supported and with the use of area-based encoding, compression parameters for up to eight user-defined regions can be set. This allows areas that are of less interest to be highly compressed, leaving higher levels of bandwidth for parts of the scene deemed more important. The camera also features integrated alarm and audio I/O ports which allow external devices to be connected to help enhance alarm signalling or enable features such as two-way audio. In addition, installation is simplified with support for PoE and recordings can be written to the on-board MicroSD card (not included) to provide a helpful backup of data if the network fails.
