Axis T8640 PoE+ over coax adaptor kit
- Upgrade analogue systems to digital
- LED display gives confirmation of status
- Axis 5-year warranty
Overview of the Axis T8640
The Axis T8640 adaptor kit allows the installer to keep existing coax cabling when converting analogue systems into digital IP systems. It provides a cost-effective solution for delivering PoE as no new cabling is required.
The kit consists of the AXIS T8641 PoE+ over coax base unit and the Axis T8642 PoE+ over coax device unit. The base unit receives PoE power and transmits it down the coax cable into the device unit, which then delivers up to full PoE+ power to the network camera.
The kit features a helpful LED display, which confirms network and power status via the cable, with no need to access remote equipment to check connections.
An additional power supply (please select from the dropdown) can be used alongside the device unit if the cable run is too long or the IP camera requires a higher level of power.
Cable runs lengths for PoE power levels are determined by the cable used and also the use of either a PoE switch or additional power supply. For more information see the table below.
Camera model | Range | |
---|---|---|
Using a PoE switch | Using Axis T8003 PS57 | |
Low power PoE cameras for example, PoE IEEE 802.3af Class 1 or 2 (<6 W) |
150m of CCS RG-59 350m of CC RG-59 400m of CC RG-6 500m of CC RG-11 |
280m of CCS RG-59 350m of CC RG-59 400m of CC RG-6 500m of CC RG-11 |
Medium power PoE cameras for example, PoE IEEE 802.3af Class 1, 2 or 3 (<10 W) |
CCS RG-59 not supported 350m of CC RG-59 400m of CC RG-6 500m of CC RG-11 |
200m of CCS RG-59 350m of CC RG-59 400m of CC RG-6 500m of CC RG-11 |
Full power PoE or PoE+ cameras for example, PoE IEEE 802.3af Class 3 (>10 W) or IEEE 802.3at |
Not supported | 80 m of CCS RG-59 350 m of CC RG-59 400 m of CC RG-6 500 m of CC RG-11 |
Custom High PoE cameras that use AXIS T8124 High PoE 60 W Midspan 1-port |
PoE to the camera is not supported. The Axis T8642 Device can be powered over the coaxial cable, but an Axis High PoE midspan 60 W must be used to power the camera locally. |
