The Axis P8221 network I/O audio module adds additional functionality to existing IP surveillance networks. The unit provides 8 programmable input/output connectors which can be triggered by external sensors and switches, or can activate external devices such as sirens and lights. The unit also incorporates 2-way audio functionality, letting users communicate interactively with people in view, as well as Phantom Power so that balanced microphones can be used for increased audio quality.

Compatible with Power over Ethernet, combining data and power into a single cable, the P8221 is very easy to install and, with compact casing, can be mounted in sensitive locations without attracting attention. The unit also supports Axis' VAPIX API meaning that it can be integrated easily to third-party surveillance applications and monitoring hardware.
