Designed for use in busy outdoor areas prone to harsh conditions, this advanced dome camera from Axis delivers sharp 4K UHD resolution video at up to 30 frames per second (fps) and features Axis’ highly sophisticated ARTPEC-8 chipset. Innovative object detection is available, thanks to the unit’s deep learning processing unit (DLPU), enabling more nuanced detection than available on previous machine-learning models. This camera can detect and classify objects directly onboard the camera using intelligent algorithms that reduce the possibility of false alerts, allowing users to set event triggers based on object behaviour to increase scene awareness and the efficiency of their surveillance. Additional features include Up to 40m OptimisedIR, Lightfinder 2.0 and Forensic WDR.

Camera

The unit’s varifocal lens allows optimum scene coverage to be set during installation, providing horizontal views of 53° - 100°. Users can be assured that their data will be protected from unauthorised access thanks to the built-in cybersecurity features such as Axis Edge Vault, signed firmware and secure boot. Furthermore, with true day/night capability, the P3268-LVE delivers crisp surveillance round-the-clock, which is enhanced by up to 40m OptimisedIR that automatically adjusts to the camera’s position to illuminate the entire surveillance area evenly.

Imaging

Suitable for outdoor areas prone to changing light, this camera is equipped with an array of imaging technologies to combat problems that arise in insufficient light conditions. Low-light technology such as Lightfinder 2.0 delivers full-colour video – even in dimly lit environments. Forensic WDR technology is also included to improve capture in high-contrast scenes. Optimised for motion, Forensic WDR balances out light and dark areas of the scene to reduce noise and capture clear, detailed video.

Video analytics

Wireless connection to audio devices such as speakers and microphones is available via edge-to-edge technology. Not only does this allow audio recording and communication, but the configuration of audio-based alerts, notifying users of suspicious sounds in the monitoring area or triggering recording. These alerts can be used alongside the built-in motion detection that can be configured to detect movement and notify users accordingly. Furthermore, tailored video analytics applications can be downloaded via the Axis Camera Application Platform to create a highly customised solution.

Video management

For cost-effective management in smaller installations (up to 16 cameras), users can make use of the free Axis Companion Application to provide basic video management and remote access to recordings or live video. Small-scale installations also benefit from the camera’s edge storage support (card not included) allowing the unit to work as a standalone system or to form a backup of data in the event of network failure. If a more sophisticated management solution is required, video can be managed via Axis Camera Station or Milestone XProtect.

Installation

The P3268-LVE is encased in housing with an ingress rating of IP66, protecting it against inclement weather conditions, as well as being IK10-rated for impact protection – ideal for exposed areas in which harsh weather or vandalism could impede the camera’s efficiency. For simple and cost-effective installation, this unit has support for Power-over-Ethernet (PoE) – providing both power and network connection over one cable, as well as remote zoom and focus for setting the camera’s view when it is installed in a hard-to-reach place.
