Overview of the Axis P1224-E

The Axis P1224-E miniature outdoor HD 720p network camera with very wide angle lens is ideal for unobtrusive installation. Features include integrated video motion detection (VMD) with active tampering alarm, Axis Corridor Format footage, on-camera recording, PoE and support for mobile phones and tablets.

Part of the P12 series of miniature in size, non-invasive network cameras, the Axis P1224-E provides a 145° wide angle lens for optimum scene coverage and capture of nearby subjects in crisp HD 720p. This mini IP camera from Axis comprises a main unit and a separate IP66-rated lens-sensor module that can be located up to 8m away from the main unit over the integrated connector cable. The P1224-E is also ideal for use at ATMs and above till points in retail environments.

Axis Corridor Format enables vertically-orientated video recording to maximise image capture around the points of interest and is a useful feature for when installing the camera in doorways. Furthermore, the camera provides reliable and accurate alarm and recording triggering through built-in video motion detection which, when combined with the camera's active tampering alarm, provides for powerful event and detection properties.

The unit supports edge storage onto an integrated MicroSD card (card not included) and provides a temporary storage solution until data can be transferred to a centralised device. It also acts as a backup in case of network failure. The P1224-E can be powered via an external power supply or through Power over Ethernet (PoE) which reduces system costs as a single cable feeds both power and network connectivity.

Axis Companion video managament software can be downloaded to enable user-friendly viewing and playback for up to 16 cameras and also supports mobile viewing for handy remote access via iPhone, iPad and Android.
