Taking advantage of its state-of-the-art chipset, the M3215-LVE is an intelligent and compact dome camera that delivers 2MP resolution video at full frame rate – 24 hours a day. Equipped with Axis’ ARTPEC-8 chipset, the camera features a deep-learning processing unit (DLPU) for improved accuracy in analytics and a greater level of cybersecurity. Built-in cybersecurity features such as Axis Edge Vault, secure boot and signed firmware help safeguard the system and keep data secure from cyberattacks or unauthorised access.
Fitted with a 3.1mm fixed lens, the camera provides wide-angle horizontal views of 101° - ideal for monitoring open outdoor areas. Designed for reliable use in harsh weather conditions, the unit is encased in IP66-rated plastic housing and features a built-in weathershield to prevent sun glare or raindrops from obscuring the field of view. The robust housing is also IK10-rated for protection from up to 20 joules of impact – making it appropriate for use in areas prone to vandalism. The M3215-LVE can capture clear video round the clock, even in the darkest light conditions, thanks to its OptimisedIR illuminators. With up to a 30m range of reach, this useful feature illuminates the entire field of view and intelligently adjusts the IR beam to the camera’s positioning, helping to eliminate reflections and glare.
Detailed footage is essential to proactive surveillance – even when conditions are less than ideal, luckily this camera includes a range of advanced imaging technologies to ensure that the optimal footage is captured. Optimised for motion, Forensic WDR is Axis’ most advanced WDR technology. This intelligent feature ensures that all details in both light and dark areas of the scene are visible whilst reducing noise and motion artefacts for the optimum clarity of footage in challenging light conditions. Using Lightfinder technology, this camera is capable of capturing full-colour video, even in dimly lit environments, making it easier to identify important subjects in poor lighting. Furthermore, to block out areas of the camera view that are not necessary or permitted to be recorded, privacy masking is available, preserving the privacy of individuals without missing out on important activity.
The unit’s DLPU enables more accurate analytics than seen in previous models in this series, allowing for more reliable monitoring with fewer costly false alarms. As well as basic motion and tampering detection, Axis Object Analytics (AOA) uses deep learning to detect and classify moving objects in the camera’s view. Able to distinguish between humans, vehicles and vehicle subclasses, this innovative technology allows object-specific alarms and event triggers to be configured for more proactive scene awareness. External audio devices can be connected via the I/O ports or using edge-to-edge technology to enable audio detection and two-way audio capabilities. Moreover, a library of free custom analytics is available through the Axis Camera Application Platform, to provide a wider and more tailored range of analytics, with a solution for almost any requirement.
Data is kept safe, even if connection to the network is lost, with integrated SD card storage (card not included) which provides a handy backup of data onboard the camera. Smaller systems (of up to 16 cameras) can utilise the free Axis Companion Application to provide basic video management and remote access to live or recorded footage from a mobile device. The camera can also be added to a new or existing Axis Camera Station or Milestone XProtect installation, for more advanced video management options.
Designed for straightforward and cost-effective installation, this camera has both power and network connection supplied via one cable with power-over-Ethernet (PoE) support – saving time and money. With wall and ceiling mounting accessories included, and remote installation aids such as pixel counter and level grid, the M3215-LVE can be set up quickly without the need for additional equipment. Further costs can be saved with Zipstream compression technology. This feature optimises bandwidth and storage requirements by an average of 50% without compromising important forensic detail.
