Overview of Axis D2210-VE Radar
- Uses advanced radar technology to detect objects within a 95° horizontal field of view
- Ideal solution for detecting movement 24/7 in all weather and lighting conditions
- Upon object detection, digital outputs can turn on lights, sirens, or activate a connected camera for visualisation
- Road monitoring profile increases vehicle detection distance and movement speed range
- Downloadable Axis Speed Monitor can efficiently gather traffic data and visualise speed in live camera views
- Axis Edge Vault protects the devices identity and prevents unauthorised access
The D2210-VE Radar reliably and accurately detects and classifies moving objects and their speeds in various lighting and weather conditions using advanced analytics, with a wide array of on-board features to enhance situational awareness. The road monitoring profile enhances the radar's vehicle detection capabilities to effectively gather traffic statistics, and offers features such as wrong-way detection and vehicle counting. Multiple radars can be situated together to increase the detection area, and a dynamic strip with several RGB LED presets can be used to warn intruders that the radar is functional, or it can be turned off for a more subtle approach.
Radar Detector
The Axis D2210-VE uses advanced radar technology to detect, identify and track humans up to 60m (200 feet) and vehicles up to 90m (295 feet) within a 95° horizontal field of view. Integrated devices such as cameras and speakers can be powered by PoE directly from an output on the radar, reducing the need for an extra cable run, midspan or switch port. Smart pairing allows IP devices to communicate edge-to-edge, providing deterrent solutions such as speakers sounding upon detection, allowing for live audio transmission or the playing of prerecorded messages. Digital outputs can also be used to activate lights to illuminate dark areas for an effective 24-hour surveillance solution. Built-in advanced analytics means the radar can identify and disregard less important detections such as swaying objects and animals, drastically reducing false alarms.
Road Monitoring Profile
When the road monitoring profile is enabled, vehicle detection range increases up to 150m (492 feet), and vehicle speeds can be monitored and recorded up to 125mph (200km/h). Along with features such as vehicle counting and wrong-way detection, these metrics can be gathered to accurately construct statistical traffic data, which can influence decision-making regarding road safety concerns, such as around speed limits and traffic alleviation methods.
Video Analytics
When integrated with a compatible IP camera, the included Axis Speed Monitor software can be used to visualise the radar's detection area, offering data such as speeds up to ~65mph (105km/h) and vehicle count being displayed as a text overlay on the video feed, allowing users to monitor these metrics in real-time. If speeds exceed preset limits, the text display can turn red, and a digital output can alert external warning devices such as sirens and strobes, as well as displaying the speed on digital speed signs to alert road users.
The radar can also provide the exact position of detected objects, which can then be visualised and tracked by a PTZ camera through the downloadable Axis Radar Autotracking for PTZ software. The application uses motion data from the radar to find objects within a predefined detection area, and automatically direct the camera toward it and follow its movement. The application is a Windows service, typically installed onto a VMS.
Video Management
Users can easily integrate the radar into an existing video surveillance system, or it can be used as a standalone unit. Based on the open integration platform VAPIX, this radar is compatible with a range of professional video management software listed below. In addition, data can be stored on the integrated microSD card (sold separately) to provide a handy backup in the event of a network connection failure.
Other recording and video management options for this camera include:
- Record direct to a local MicroSD Card (not included).
- Axis Camera Station video management software (VMS) creates a unified management system providing the user with greater functionality from their Axis devices.
- Milestone XProtect video management software (VMS), industry-leading open platform innovative video management for optimum adaptability and expandability.
Installation and mounting options
Smart coexistence functionality allows multiple radars to be linked together to increase detection, such as fitting 4 radars together for a full 360° detection circle. Powered by PoE, the D2210-VE comes supplied with the Axis TQ1003-E Wall Mount, so it can be mounted straight out of the box, with further mounting options available below:
