The Axis S1216 Network Video Recorder is a feature-rich, rack-mountable recorder designed for small/medium-sized businesses looking for a reliable and highly performant recording solution for Axis IP cameras. With enterprise-grade 8TB HDD internal storage and preinstalled Axis Camera Station licences for 16 cameras up to 4MP each, the unit can be used straight out of the box and is straightforward to install into any standard size server rack or cabinet. If more cameras are needed, additional licenses can be purchased for up to 32 channels, and additional HDDs can be installed across 3 x HDD slots to extend the internal storage or utilise RAID for resilience. Cybersecurity is enhanced via Axis Edge Vault by ensuring video recorded to the hard drive is encrypted, whilst the built-in operating system recovery means data can be quickly recovered in the event of a crash.
This powerful recorder is able to process data efficiently due to its Intel Xeon processor and a Solid State Drive (SSD), with quick start-up and greater failure prevention. Peripheral devices such as monitor, mouse and keyboard can be connected directly to the recorder through the 1 x VGA and 3 x USB ports. The recorder comes with 1x 8TB HDD and a 240GB SSD for the Windows 10 IoT Enterprise operating system. When additional drives are fitted, RAID redundancy (0, 1, 10) is supported to prevent downtime and improve availability in the event of one of the disks failing.
As the recorder comes pre-configured with 16 Axis Camera Station licences, there is no need for additional software installation, saving time and ensuring a smoother setup. Recorded video can also be exported to an external storage device via USB.
Each connected camera can have tampering and motion alarms configured individually, which enables notifcations to the user via email when impact or movement is detected. Privacy masking is included with Axis Camera Station to meet safeguarding regulations regarding the identity of individuals. Further, Axis Camera Station's built-in advanced analytics functions are available via the performance capability of the recorder.
With a user-friendly interface and rack rails included, this recorder is easy to install into a 1U rack with a dedicated installation wizard and Axis Recorder Toolbox to assist in server and software setup. With the included iDRAC card (front side direct port and rear side ethernet), remote access and recovery is possible. Ongoing support in the form of Next Business Day Onsite Support and Keep Your Hard Drive are also available to ensure your recorder is always working reliably and is supported quickly when necessary.
