The Vivotek IP8161 is a compact, fixed-dome IP camera designed for 24-hour surveillance, featuring day/night switching, producing colour footage in daylight and monochrome video at night, as well as integrated infrared LEDs which illuminate objects up to a distance of 15m. A built-in PIR sensor also detects motion around the camera without any light at all.

The camera's 2-megapixel resolution provides 4x greater clarity than a conventional IP camera, making it much easier to identify objects, even at a distance. Video can also be stored directly onto the camera using an SD card, eliminating the need for external recording hardware. Tamper detection software can also alert viewers should the camera be unexpectedly moved, obscured or covered, minimizing downtime.

Viewers can communicate quickly and easily with people in view or challenge intruders using the camera's 2-way audio functionality, with built-in microphone so that audio can be captured without the need for additional audio devices. The camera is also ONVIF compliant, making it easier to integrate with third-party ONVIF-compliant surveillance equipment.
