Overview of the Synology DS420+
This Network Attached Storage (NAS) device by Synology offers a secure data management and storage solution for video data files. Featuring four drive bays, it is able to house a maximum of 64TB of storage and can be supplied with Western Digital Purple hard drives (fitting required).
With an Intel Celeron 2-core processor and Link aggregation enabled, this unit can deliver average reading speeds of 226 MB/s and writing speeds of 225 MB/s. Dual 1 GbE ports feature failover protection, and 2 integrated USB 3.0 ports allow for external storage devices to be connected – for fast and efficient file transfer. Additionally, the drive bays’ hot-swappable design reduces system downtime during maintenance and makes disk replacing a simple task.
Ideal for small-scale businesses, Windows AD and LDAP support allows quick and seamless integration into existing networks. A host of helpful add-on applications and features are also available, which allow for effective management of drives and data – helping users utilise their NAS device to the fullest.
This high-performing unit can be supplied with a choice of up to four 16TB WD Purple hard drives (fitting required). These drives have been specially designed for demanding video surveillance applications. (Please select storage from the dropdown menu above).
