Overview of the Sony SNC-EM641

The Sony SNC-EM641 mini-dome IP camera produces full HD 1080p images at up to 60 frames per second (fps) – 24 hours a day. Housed in IK10-rated casing, the camera is suitable for deployment in exposed, indoor locations that are prone to tampering and can be easily installed via Power-over-Ethernet (PoE). Other features supported by the unit include View-DR wide dynamic range technology, XDNR noise reduction, Face detection and SD card storage.

The camera's varifocal lens enables the optimum viewing angle to be set during installation and offers wide horizontal views of up to 105.3°. Its 3x optical zoom supports real-time investigation into specific areas of interest and quick close-ups can also be obtained easily using 4x digital zooming. Image Rotation allows viewing in narrow scenes to be optimised by rotating the sensor 90° (or 270°) - preventing the recording of redundant areas.

Using a range of advanced imaging technologies, the camera can capture clear video footage in challenging lighting conditions. By utilising advanced sensor technology and high-performance XDNR noise reduction, this camera captures clear, full-colour video in near-dark conditions. View-DR technology is supported and enables details in scenes with bright and dark areas to be viewed clearly. Image Stabilisation is also included which helps to keep video smooth and steady when the camera is affected by vibrations.

Camera-based video motion detection alarms can be configured to trigger SD card recording and alert users of potential incidents. In addition, Sony’s DEPA Advanced video analytics use rule-based alerts, including ‘intrusion’ and ‘passing’, to improve overall scene awareness and deliver reliable security monitoring. By rapidly indexing recordings, Intelligent Face Detection technology allows users to quickly find and retrieve events where human faces are present.

H.264 and MJPEG compression standards are both supported, providing flexibility depending on requirements. In addition, recordings can be written to the on-board SD card (not included) to provide a helpful backup of data if the network fails.
