Overview of the Sony SNC-EB642R

The Sony SNC-EB642R outdoor-ready bullet IP camera provides smooth, HD 1080p video at up to 60 frames per second (fps). This unit supports true day/night recording which is enhanced by built-in infrared (IR) LEDs, delivering clear night-time images up to a distance of 60 metres (30 IRE). IP66 and IK08-rated for durable use in exposed areas, the camera also features Face detection, edge storage, Image Stabiliser and Power-over-Ethernet (PoE) support.

The unit’s varifocal lens enables the optimum viewing angle to be set during installation and offers wide horizontal views of up to 105.3°. 3x optical zooming allows real-time investigation into specific regions of interest, while a 4x digital zoom is handy for quick close-ups of the original image. Users can apply Image Rotation to vertically orientate the video stream when monitoring narrow scenes - helping to maximise area coverage and reduce bandwidth.

Using a sensitive type Exmore R CMOS image sensor and XDNR processing, full-colour images are produced - even in low-light environments. Sony’s View-DR technology is also supported and improves images captured in challenging lighting conditions by compensating for both bright light and dark shadows - ensuring details are clearly visible. Additionally, Image Stabilisation ensures that video remains steady and smooth even when the camera is subjected to vibrations.

Video motion alarms can be configured, and Sony’s DEPA advanced video analytics help to improve total scene awareness through the use of rule-based alarms triggers and object filters. Intelligent Face Detection technology allows users to quickly find and retrieve events where human faces are present by rapidly indexing recordings.

Multiple H.264 and JPEG streams offer flexible resolution and compression options for monitoring and recording – saving on storage costs. Recordings can be stored locally to the on-board SD card (not included) and used as a backup if the network fails. Installation is simplified with an easy-to-adjust mounting arm, and a built-in sunshade helps to protect against harsh sunlight.
