Overview of the NUUO NS-2160

The NUUO NS-2160 16 channel network video recorder with Linux-embedded is part of NUUO’s cost-effective and easy-to-use NVRsolo recorder series. The unit provides two drive bays for up to 8TB of storage (2 x 4TB HDD). Additional features include intelligent search capability, HD 1080p live display output (HDMI), mobile access for iOS and Android and motion triggered email alert.

Feature-rich, the NUUO NS-2160 NVR enables up to 16 network cameras to be managed using a simple user-interface whilst providing up to 8TB of storage space for high frame rate and high resolution recording. Simultaneous recording, playback and live viewing provide uninterrupted operation. The NUUO NS-2160 can either be operated through the network or can also function as a standalone NVR unit by connecting a keyboard, mouse and monitor for HDMI video output. ezNUUO delivers plug-and-play, hassle free installation and set-up, automatically finding cameras across the network and eliminating IP address, network settings and port-forwarding issues.

With Linux as the operating system, the NS-2160 provides a stable platform with reduced risk of system crash or virus attack. Ideal for use in small and medium sized IP video installations, the NS-2160 is particularly ideal for use in retail applications when using the POS (Point of Sale) overlay feature available for up to 4 cameras. This POS information overlay allows individual transactions to be monitored and investigated, preventing errors and problems such as ‘sweethearting’ and cash shortages. Further handy features include external DAS storage, PTZ control via joystick and digital watermarking for secure video footage that can be used as evidence.

The NS 2160’s intelligent search functionality can find objects that have been left or removed and can also identify focus loss or obstruction of the camera, providing quick and efficient location of relevant video. Video motion detection can trigger event recording to ensure no activity is missed, whilst also triggering email alerts and push notifications to mobiles. Handy mobile viewing for iPhone, iPad and Android devices via the NUUO iViewer app enable remote live video viewing and playback, ideal for business owners and managers. With digital PTZ and multi-view playback, the NUUO NS-2160 provides effective event analysis whilst dual streaming capability enables efficient bandwidth and storage use, with (typically) live view in lower resolution and recording in high resolution.

Advanced fisheye dewarping technology from NUUO enables the NS-2160 to be used with 360° panoramic and hemispheric IP cameras, ideal for Mobotix, Sony, Arecont and Vivotek 360° fisheye cameras in particular. Compatible with hundreds of brands and models of IP camera and with support for H.264 and two-way audio, NUUO NVRs deliver an open-platform recording solution suitable for a wide range of applications and requirements. NUUO provide users with long-term support, offering free access to software updates with new features. When multiple NS-2160 units are connected together, up to 128 channels can be used via a single interface for a cost-effective and scalable recording solution that can grow over time.
