Overview of the Hikvision DS-2DE4A220IW-DE

This outdoor-ready PTZ dome delivers HD 1080p resolution, complete with true day/night recording enhanced by integrated infrared (IR) illumination. It offers full pan/tilt functionality and a 20x optical zoom for detailed examination of indoor or outdoor locations. Additional features include MicroSD card storage and easy installation via Power-over-Ethernet (PoE).

The endless 360° pan and 90° tilt allows wide areas to be covered with a single camera – providing a cost-effective choice for installations that would normally require multiple units. 20x optical zooming enables the user to obtain closer views of specific areas that are of interest, and the 16x digital zoom allows further investigation into the original image.

The camera’s integrated IR illuminator provides up to 50m of infrared night-vision, and for clearer viewing in low-light, Hikvision’s smart IR function adjusts the illumination according to zoom levels – helping prevent overexposure of objects close to the camera. A handful of imaging technologies are also included such as wide dynamic range (WDR) and noise reduction to improve the quality of images captured in challenging light conditions.

Users can configure video motion detection alarms to alert them of possible incidents, and alarm signalling is enhanced with the connection of external alarm sources via the built-in I/O ports. Motion detection can also be used to trigger tasks such as moving directly to a pre-set position to ensure all activity is captured. In addition, a microphone and speaker (not included) can be connected through the audio I/O ports to enable audio recording and two-way communication with those close to the camera.

Installation is simplified with support for PoE and recordings can be written to the on-board MicroSD card (not included) to provide a helpful backup of data if the network fails. Hikvision iVMS-4200 software is supplied to provide a simple video management solution and users can download the free Hik-Connect mobile app for basic CCTV monitoring on-the-go.
