Overview of the Hikvision DS-2CD2732F-I

The outdoor ready compact dome IP camera is a cost-effective choice by Hikvision, capable of capturing 3 megapixel resolution at 20 frames per second or full HD 1080p at 25 frames per second. Featuring IK10 rated vandal resistance and ingress weather protection IP66, making it suitable for outdoor areas in which vandalism could be a possibility. This model has an optional add on of audio/alarm which can extend the units surveillance features giving the ability of sound within the scene. The unit supports Power-over-Ethernet (PoE), includes board storage and has true day/night capability making is a good low cost choice of CCTV surveillance for smaller scale businesses.

This affordable IP camera includes an IR cut filter which automatically changes from full colour image in daylight to monochrome when there is little or no light, providing the camera with true day/night capability and making it an ideal choice for 24 hour surveillance. The cameras built in IR LED's give an enhanced IR illumination range of around 15 to 20m reaching up to 30m at a maximum. This model is capable of a wide horizontal angle of view up to 91.2°, the wider angle of view gives a larger size of area that can be monitored by a single camera.

Image enhancement functions such as 3d noise reduction improve clarity within the image by reducing the image 'grain' as well as wide dynamic range (WDR) which ensures a balanced exposure in areas of light and dark. Back light compensation is supported in this model to reduce areas of interest being silhouetted against bright backgrounds.

Video motion detection methods are able to be configured on this camera such as line crossing and tampering detections. With the use of the Hikvision mobile app, alerts can be sent via email to inform the user of an alarm that has been raised within the scene. The additional audio add on can enhance this detection system, a microphone inside the camera gives the user the capability of hearing what is happening within the scene. For example if the camera was to be tampered with, an alarm can be set to trigger when the microphone detects loss of audio within in scene and notify the user.

Operators can configure dual streaming in different resolutions and frame rates, allowing flexible bandwidth management. H.264 and MJPEG compression formats are supported to enable file reduction suitable for a variety of applications. Additionally data can be stored internally to a MicroSD card (card not included), providing a low-cost data back up if the network fails. Support for PoE makes this CCTV camera a cost-attractive choice as power is supplied to the camera through the Ethernet cable, meaning only a single cable is required.

Hikvision’s iVMS-4500 video management software is included with the camera, enabling simple and effective camera control ideal for smaller scale installations, whilst mobile support provides flexible remote viewing.
