Overview of the Axis Q1659

This innovative indoor IP camera from Axis combines a high-performance image sensor, Canon’s professional-level lens technology and advanced, Axis security features to deliver reliable CCTV footage in up to 20MP resolution. The unit supports a variety of Canon EF/EF-S mount lenses and can be installed easily via Power-over-Ethernet Plus (PoE+). Additional features include an integrated SFP slot and support for Axis’ award-winning Zipstream technology.

Part of the advanced Axis Q16 series, this unit can deliver 4K Ultra HD resolution at full frame rate or detail-packed 20MP footage at up to 8 frames per second (fps) – 24 hours a day. It features digital single-lens reflex (DSLR) imaging and is available with a choice of 8 different Canon EF/EF-S lenses – some of which even support Lightfinder for improved low-light performance. Multi-view streaming is also supported, which allows up to 4 specific areas within the camera’s field of view to be cropped and streamed separately for live viewing or recording - helpful when closely monitoring regions of interest.

Two-way audio is supported with the connection of a microphone and speaker (not included) via the external I/O ports, enabling audio recording and communication with those close to the camera. Audio-triggered alerts can also be used alongside video motion detection and tampering alarms to inform users of activity via email notification. These alarms can also be set to trigger microSD card recording – ensuring all motion is captured.

Axis’ Zipstream technology helps to lower bandwidth and storage levels by an average of up to 50%. By optimising the video stream in real-time, important details can be retained while unnecessary data is removed. In addition, PoE+ supplies the camera with both power and network connectivity over a single cable - enabling quick and cost-effective installation.
