Compact and powerful, this outdoor-ready fisheye dome captures 12MP resolution video, ideal for applications that require highly detailed overviews. Built with Axis’ latest ARTPEC-8 chipset, the camera can take full advantage of a range of deep-learning analytics for enhanced monitoring. Equipped with four microphones and voice enhancer technology, audio captured on this camera can be utilised as an alarm trigger or to increase situational awareness. This camera also features Sharpdome 360 technology which is specifically designed for IP cameras with fisheye lenses to help produce sharp and focused images - even at the edges of the camera's view. The inclusion of a removable IR-cut filter allows the camera to deliver footage round-the-clock, suitable for unobtrusive monitoring of outdoor locations such as petrol stations, bus stations and service stations.

Imaging and Optics

The Axis M4308-PLE delivers seamless 12MP panoramic (180°) or hemispheric (360°) views at up to 25 frames per second. Featuring a 1.3mm fixed stereographic lens, this camera clearly captures objects of interest from the camera’s peripheral view, as well as in the foreground, by increasing the resolution around the outer portion of the view. Integrated IR LEDs with OptimisedIR technology help to reduce overexposure and illuminate the scene at distances of up to 15m, improving the camera’s night vision capabilities. The camera’s fisheye view can be viewed with less distortion using dewarping technology. Panorama and quad views are also available to show the surveillance area in either one image or in four separate sections. A number of advanced imaging technologies are also included on this device to enhance recording in challenging light conditions, including Forensic WDR for high contrast settings and Lightfinder to provide full-colour video in dark conditions.

Video Analytics

The advanced ARTPEC-8 chipset and deep learning processing unit (DLPU) allow this camera to utilise Axis’ Intelligent Object Analytics to identify and classify moving objects such as humans or vehicles, as well as specified events such as line crossing or loitering. It is possible to run up to 10 simultaneous scenarios that can be tailored to detect exactly what you want. Furthermore, metadata search is available to find exactly what you need, enabling you to specify humans, faces, vehicles, vehicle colour and position.

A range of additional Axis applications and third-party applications are compatible with this camera to create a bespoke monitoring solution.

Recording and Video Management

Recording and video management options for this camera:

• Data can be recorded to an onboard SD card (SD card not included) to preserve important information if the network connection fails and can be played back via the free Axis Companion application.
• Axis Camera Station video management software (VMS), compatible with all Axis IP devices, this VMS create a unified management solution that makes the most of the Axis technologies in the camera.
• Pre-installed with Axis Camera Station software, Axis Camera Station network video recorders (NVR) can be used to create a single-vendor management solution.
• The leading open platform video management solution, Milestone XProtect video management software (VMS), is ideal for use with Axis IP cameras.

Installation and Mounting Options

The camera’s casing is both IP66 and IK10-rated to protect it from inclement weather conditions and tampering, allowing it to function in exposed areas prone to vandalism attempts. Additionally, to simplify installation, PoE+ support delivers power and network connectivity to the camera over a single cable, reducing the amount of wiring needed in the initial set-up. Furthermore, the integrated alarm and audio I/O ports allow users to connect external devices that can help enhance alarm signalling or enable two-way audio.
