 Overview of the Bosch DINION IP Bullet 5000i

This outdoor-ready bullet from Bosch delivers highly detailed, 5 megapixel video at up to 25 frames per second (fps). Part of the DINION series, the unit offers true day/night recording that is enhanced by integrated infrared (IR) illumination (maximum range of 50m). It also features an IK10-rated housing to provide robust protection in exposed areas and can be easily installed using Power-over-Ethernet (PoE). Additional features include Bosch’s Essential Video Analytics, edge storage, two-way audio and support for H.265 compression format.

A varifocal lens provides wide horizontal viewing angles (up to 95°) and allows optimum scene coverage to be set during installation. Separate streams can be produced for viewing and recording via user-defined regions of interest. These, combined with the main camera stream, allow separate areas to be monitored whilst retaining overall awareness. Additionally, remote electronic pan/tilt/zoom (E-PTZ) controls allow the user to examine the original image in more detail – helpful when trying to identify objects or persons.

Intelligent Dynamic Noise Reduction (IDNR) helps deliver clearer images in dark conditions by reducing levels of noise that are commonly seen in low-light video. By combining these low-noise images with the unit’s efficient H.265 compression technology, users are given reduced-bandwidth streams that still retain a high image quality. Intelligent defog is also supported and improves visibility in images captured in smoke, fog and haze.

This unit also features Bosch’s Essential Video Analytics, which offers an extensive selection of configurable alarms to help provide dynamic and accurate CCTV surveillance. The i-LIDS-approved technology offers a total of 14 rules and users can run up to 8 rules concurrently. Detailed metadata is recorded at the point of capture, allowing users to later retrieve specific footage from hours of stored video, quickly and easily. All this processing is done without putting any load on the network - due to it running on the edge.

With the use of area-based encoding, compression parameters for up to eight user-defined regions can be set. This allows areas that are of less interest to be highly compressed, leaving higher levels of bandwidth for parts of the scene deemed more important. The unit can also provide two-way audio when a microphone and speaker are connected via an external I/O ports (not included) - enabling audio recording and verbal interaction through the camera. Recordings can be stored locally to the onboard microSD card (not included) and the video stream can be viewed remotely via the free Bosch Video Security app.
