Designed for monitoring highly populated areas in demanding external conditions, this Q-series network IP camera from Axis delivers 4MP resolution at up to 50 frames per second (fps) and features a built-in wiper for removal of rain and snow from the lens window. The inclusion of Axis’ innovative ARTPEC-8 System-on-Chip (SoC) enables more accurate object detection and more rigorous cybersecurity than its predecessor. Furthermore, this camera includes a variety of imaging technologies such as Lightfinder 2.0 and Forensic WDR, as well as a built-in microphone and Power-over-Ethernet (PoE) support.
Camera
An intelligent CS-mount varifocal lens (i-CS) supplies horizontal views of 113° - 47° and uses zoom and focus information to set optimum scene coverage. A built-in IR-cut filter provides reliable 24-hour surveillance, which is enhanced further by long-range OptimisedIR illumination that reaches up to 50m and delivers clear images in darkness – ideal for applications that require detailed monitoring around the clock. This unit supports two-way audio, allowing users to record audio and communicate within the camera’s vicinity when an external microphone and speaker system are connected. The camera’s IK10 and IP66-rated housing offers protection against harsh weather conditions and tampering attempts, whilst a built-in wiper ensures the lens is protected from water droplets and vapour that could obscure its view - allowing the unit to be reliably deployed in challenging outdoor conditions.
Imaging
To improve video quality in a variety of conditions, advanced imaging technologies are integrated into the system. Lightfinder 2.0 and Forensic WDR improve the clarity of footage in both low light and high contrast conditions, ensuring consistent quality, no matter the light levels. Additionally, privacy masking conceals areas that are not permitted to be recorded, increasing the security of individuals and properties surrounding the surveillance area.
Video analytics
Axis’ new SoC, ARTPEC-8, enables highly sensitive real-time object detection and classification via Axis Object Analytics that allows users to gain a deeper understanding of the area they are monitoring and the traffic in that area based on deep learning analytics. Furthermore, various video motion detection methods can be configured to enhance dynamic scene awareness in this unit and additional applications and third-party analytics are available through the Axis Camera Application platform, providing users with a highly customisable solution.
Video management
A MicroSD card (not included) can be fitted to provide edge storage and allows the camera to be used as a standalone unit as well as providing a dependable backup in case of network failure. Advanced video management can be achieved through software such as
Axis Camera Station or Milestone XProtect providing the ability to edit and review recordings and live footage.
Installation
Installation is simplified with PoE that delivers power and network connectivity through one cable, reducing the need for multiple wires. Furthermore, in the event of a power failure, a redundant DC power supply can be triggered to continue surveillance without interruption.
