Part of the focus in the recent update to Axis Camera Station was to make the software easier to use and nothing makes setting up events quicker and easier than the new Event Configuration Wizard.
Let’s have a look at how simple it is to configure an event using this new tool.
For this guide we will choose a common event which will start recording when motion is detected.
When you first open the Event Configration Wizard you will see a dialog similar to the one shown below:
The first step in the wizard is to set the trigger. The trigger will be the source which ‘triggers’ the recording or event to occur.
To add a new trigger click the ‘Add…’ button on the right hand side of the dialog box. You will then be asked which kind of trigger you want to add:
Click on the ‘Motion detection’ button to select a motion detection trigger. This will set your trigger and it will appear in the list of triggers. Now that you have a trigger set click the ‘Next >’ button to select the Actions.
You should now see an actions dialog box similar to the one shown below:
The action will determine what happens when your trigger has been activated. We are going to set the software to start recording when our ‘motion detection’ trigger is activated.
Click the ‘Add…’ button to add a new action. You will be presented with a list of options as shown in the dialog below:
Click ‘Record’ and you will then be asked to configure the camera settings as shown below:
Once you are happy with the settings click “OK” to complete the action.
By default, the action will be set to perform all the time but you can create a schedule for the action if required in the schedule section of the wizard:
You can create elaborate schedules per camera if you wish, for now we are just going to leave it set to ‘always’.
Your new event is now complete:
Ensure you have checked the ‘Enable this rule’ option and then simply click the ‘Finish’ button to complete your rule.
