At the end of 2006 Swedish manufacturer Axis announced the launch of the Axis 223M Network Camera – the first IP camera on the market with 2 Megapixel image resolution and day/night switching for 24 hour surveillance.
Key technical indicators
Based on the Axis 221 chassis this camera fits inside all the usual housings and is sure to be highly used in the IP security industry.
We will review this camera in a later blog entry.
We, at Network Webcams Limited, are excited. This month (Jan 07) we will get our hands on the first Megapixel IP cameras with Day & Night switching ever to become available. Axis is launching the Axis 223M, whilst IQinvision is bringing out the 750 series, comprising 3 models (751, 752 and 753). All are static cameras, suitable for indoor and outdoor use and aimed at high end 24/7 security surveillance.
The fact that two leading manufacturers are launching this technology at the same time, is great news for users and customers. It will put on some price pressure and straight from the off we will have something to compare against. It is an interesting contest, Axis, the world leader in IP video versus the Megapixel specialist, IQeye. One has never made a great Megapixel camera but has produced some excellent Day & Night cameras, whilst the other has built a reputation for their high level Megapixel cameras but has no previous experience with Day & Night switching technology. Who will be the winner?
Keep on eye on this blog to find out the answer.
