Videotec has launched a Hi-PoE camera housing ideal for outdoor installation of IP network cameras. Installing CCTV cameras in external locations has never been easier. Now, you only have to run a data cable to the camera, there is no longer a need for additional external power cabling for the housing. This makes IP CCTV installations more flexible and much more cost-effective.
PoE technology gives IP CCTV a huge benefit over traditional CCTV. The PoE housing will soon be available in the UK. Keep an eye on our UK IP CCTV camera store.
No commentsAxis reports continued strong growth in network CCTV
Axis interim report (January to September 2008) shows continued growth within the area of network video. The sales increase amounted to 35 percent compared with the same period last year. Sales within IP Video totaled SEK 522m (approx £44m) during the third quarter July to September, corresponding to growth of 32 percent.
“There is considerable interest in all regions for network video products in security installations… Axis’ expansion plans remain,” Ray Mauritsson, CEO of Axis, said in the report.
Axis reports that the Americas and Asia displayed strong growth figures, while the third quarter was characterised by a degree of caution and project changes within EMEA.
Axis reports that 116 new staff were employed during the first nine months of 2008.
Axis is the worldwide leader in network video products used within IP CCTV and security applications. Network Webcams is an Axis Development Partner (ADP) as well as an Axis Solutions Gold partner, offering the full range of Axis network video products and developed applications.
No commentsSoftware or NVR for your IP Camera CCTV Recordings?
When you start planning an IP camera CCTV network, no matter how small, and you need to record that footage for playback later as evidence, your have two main options: an NVR (Network Video Recorder) or recording software (software NVR).
We have a range of both from Milestone, Axis, Panasonic and Sony and have just added to our range of NVRs from Panasonic with the inclusion on our UK IP CCTV Store of the Panasonic iPro WJ-ND200 and WJ-ND300 ranges.
The i-Pro Network Disc Recorder range includes:
Panasonic i-Pro WJ-ND200/120 (16 cameras) - NVR with 120Gb storage space
Panasonic i-Pro WJ-ND200/240 (16 cameras) - NVR with 240Gb storage space
Panasonic i-Pro WJ-ND300/500 (32 cameras) - NVR with 500Gb storage space
Panasonic i-Pro WJ-ND300/1000 (32 cameras) - NVR with 1TB of storage space
Panasonic i-Pro WJ-ND300/2000 (32 cameras) - NVR with 2Tb storage space
When designing a CCTV system or network you’re weighing up whether to go down the software route (using a PC or server) or put NVR(s) in place. There is choice in both camps. CCTV Video Recording Software is generally lower cost, therefore you potentially get a quicker return on your investment, but the additional benefits and hassle-saving of NVRs can be significant in the longer term and should not be ignored.
A useful networked CCTV system with IP cameras may be a success or failure on the quality of its recorded video, but the same can also be said for the ease of use and maintenance of the recording system. NVRs can make these tasks simple.
No commentsNew Logo for Network Webcams - The IP CCTV Specialists
Network Webcams (NW) is introducing a new logo to improve brand recognition across its range of services and activities.
Designed by logo designer David Airey, NW’s new logo depicts the letters ‘NW’ as well as the visible spectrum of colours representing the capabality of IP CCTV cameras to reproduce true colour images.

“Over the last 4 years, our products and services have been individually branded which has lead to our customers not always realising that it is Network Webcams providing the service,” Frank Crouwel, NW’s managing director said. Crouwel continues: “With the new logo we address this issue and hopefully its bright colours and artistic quality will help our customers to recognise our corporate brand.”
NW’s new logo will start appearing on its websites, web applications and all other documentation over the next few weeks.
Network Webcams is a leading specialist in the area of IP camera technology, providing networked CCTV solutions, IP camera supplies, web cameras for construction projects and streaming video services. NW has offices in England, Scotland and New York. Contact us.
We would recommend David Airey to anybody interested in logo design. David has been an inspiration and pleasure to work with throughout the design process.
No commentsBad Theft Figures for UK Retail
According to the European Retail Theft Barometer reporting for 2007, customer theft for this period stood at almost £2.1 billion whilst theft by employees was recorded at £1.75 billion.
The problem for UK retailers seems worse than almost anywhere else in Europe. The UK retail sector lost 1.34% of sales turnover to shrinkage, only Greece’s figures are worse.
And the news is even worse considering that this percentage is up from 2006 when it was 1.33%. With the level of percentage shrinkage not recuding, the amounts of money lost grow as retail sales increase.
With the advancement of Networked CCTV in recent years, retailers have been handed a much more effective tool in their fight against theft. For example, Network CCTV allows retail businesses to integrate CCTV within their POS systems to link transaction data with high quality video images. And because it is networked, this data can be viewed and analysed by security staff remotely.
With IP CCTV, retail chains have the opportunity to set up a central control room from where specialist staff can monitor all the chain’s operations. The business case for using Networked CCTV in retail is very strong and retailers, large and small, can benefit enormously by reducing both shrinkage and the cost of their CCTV system at the same time.
Network Webcams offers advice, design, installation and support services for IP CCTV systems. Contact us for further information.
No commentsMan with name tattoed on neck nabbed by CCTV
We love CCTV. No, we really do. It catches criminals, and that’s a good thing.
Stupid is as stupid does and in this case, CCTV images capture a thief’s identity easily as his name a date of birth is tattooed on his neck!
This chap leaves Police in no doubt who committed the crime.
We really do love CCTV.
