Axis 215 PTZ Network Camera

Axis 215 PTZ Network Camera
Axis has recently announced the launch of their new PTZ dome camera, the Axis 215.

This pan, tilt and zoom (PTZ) camera features a compact, tamper-proof design and automatic day/night switching making this camera ideal for indoor security applications such as banks, shops, reception areas etc.

Using a clever feature known as ‘E-Flip’, an Axis 215 offers a full 360 degree pan and 180 degree tilt. For example, if you were tracking a person walking under the camera, at the point directly underneath where most dome cameras would stop, this camera will flip the image 180 degrees automatically and keep moving. This eliminates any camera blind spots and coupled with a modest 12x zoom always allows you to successfully follow a moving target in great detail.

Advanced features include 2-way audio communication, powerful event management such as events based on schedules, sensor inputs or motion detection and superior image quality using simultaneous MPEG-4 and Motion JPEG technologies pushing out streams at 30fps up to a maximum resolution of 768×576 pixels.

We think the camera is going to be very popular, especially with small businesses looking for a great security solution to match their needs and we’re looking forward to taking a closer look at one in due course.

Swallows, Amazons and the Old Man of Coniston

In a bumper week or Streamdays Webcam Hosting we make another customer live at streamdays.com. Bank Ground, a B&B and self catering farmhouse sits right on Coniston Water in the Lake District in some truly stunning and awe-inspiring scenery.

Bank Ground and Coniston were also the setting for much of Arthur Ransome’s Swallows and Amazons, both the book and the film.

What would John and Susan Walker make of this?

Streamdays Red Carpet-Watch in London’s Leicester Square

Streamdays Webcam Hosting customer Radisson Edwardian Hotel London have gone live with their Leicester Square webcam overlooking London’s premier premiere hotspot, the Leicester Square Odeon Cinema.

Celebrity watching is now a doddle as webcam viewers can control the camera by pre-set views and choose from multiple zoomed-in positions on the red carpet trail.

Of course, the rest of Leicester Square is available to watch too. On premiere days this will be one busy camera.

Network Webcams Staff Hold off Battling Axis Team

karting-daytona.jpg

Let no-one ever say Karting is for kids! After two hours of high-adrenaline endurance karting at Daytona Motorsport in Manchester, a team from Network Webcams Limited held off a plucky Axis Communications team to take the checkered flag in record time!

Ok, so it wasn’t record time and Axis did beat our second team, but we did pretty well. A triumph for the little guy, or a major spot of luck, you take your pick.

We’d like to thank Steve, Nick and Simon at Axis Communications for putting up a good fight and for the opportunity to prove that not only do we work hard, we play hard too. And congratulations to all Network Webcams Ltd staff who took part. Hopefully the blisters, bruises, cuts & scratches have disappeared by now.

So, any one else want to take us on?

Derby Peregrine Falcon Arrivals

Peregrine Falcon Feeding

The viewers of our Streamdays hosted webcams at Derby Cathedral were greeted by two new arrivals on Wednesday evening.

Some of the viewers of the webcams reported signs of something fluffy and white late on Wednesday night but it wasn’t until the sun came out and the parents swapped incubation shifts that we could confirm that two of the chicks have hatched, leaving two eggs remaining.

If you are logging into watch the progress at the Derby Peregrine Webcam then you have to be quick (or lucky) to catch a glimpse of the chicks being fed. We were lucky enough to be watching at the right time this afternoon, as you can see.

We’re hoping the other two chicks will hatch over the next day or two, so keep watching their progress. Baby falcon names on a postcard to…

Keep track of the full progress on the Peregrine Blog.

On Test - AXIS 295 Surveillance Joystick

Axis 295 Joystick

Of course every AXIS camera can be controlled through a browser using standard mouse and keyboard control but AXIS do offer an alternative…

The AXIS 295 Suveillance Joystick

The AXIS 295 Surveillance Joystick is a unique way of controlling your AXIS PTZ or Dome network cameras, replacing traditional mouse and keyboard input.

Built from rugged plastic the joystick is fairly large without being overbearing. It has large resting areas for your hands (on either side to support left or right handed users) and it feels very comfortable to use. The stick itself has a steel shaft, seems extremely robust and built to a high standard with a good tactile feel.

The Joystick features analogue control in all directions with the stick, analogue twist control on the handle, allowing you to zoom in and out and 12 programmable switched buttons, 10 on the base unit and two on the handle.

Network Webcams Ltd Launches Network Camera Forum

Network Webcams ForumWe are on a mission to be the #1 source for network cameras on the web. Part of that mission is to provide a discussion forum where our customers can get help and information from us, and from other network camera customers and users.

We are pleased to announce that it went live today, Saturday 5th May 2007.

We aim for the forum to become an important resource for anyone looking for help or advice on which camera to get, how to use it, what to do when things go wrong and more. In fact, pretty much anything to do with network cameras goes.

While the site is new we will post basic help and advice until the discussion gets going but we look forward to the forum becoming another channel where our knowledgeable technical and sales teams can provide help and support. Remember, all our technical support is free and available when you need it.

The rapid growth in network camera sales across the industry should mean that this discussion forum will quickly develop into THE place to make that first move to network cameras.

View and post to the forum here.

The rise of the Webcam Directory

There are thousands of tourist attractions throughout the world, but the vast majority of people will never physically see most of them. The cost of travelling to different countries in search of these historic gems is simply too expensive for most people and with increasing concerns about global warming and remaining carbon neutral, many people are cutting back on international travel.
